    The first time I successfully quit I destroyed it all, thinking I could just have one socially like my husband, my best friend and my sister. Just one & I was back at step 1. I bought a pack on my way home and smoked another 5 years until this time. I’m only a couple weeks in & still having cravings. I don’t know how many times I’ve had the conversation in my head. “It’s just one” “but it took pneumonia & going through a couple weeks of hell to stop. One cigarette, one DRAG of a cigarette, and you have to start over” I’ve agreed to myself that if I make it to 90, I can start smoking again. I liked it. I miss it. Hopefully by 90, I’ll be so over it I won’t want one.

    Sooo After 40 years of failing EVERYTHING I have ever tried, just try one more time? Well no.... at some point you have to give up and realise that this life wasn't for me. I understand your point but I would need so much help and there is absolutely no help to get so this is where I am....just giving up

    I found it much easier when I did all the sane things but brought something for my to do. Can’t smoke if my hands are busy doing something else. Bringing my crochet helped. A buddy of mine borrowed a thing of playdoh from his daughter and spent his work breaks messing with it while doing what he normally did otherwise. Another friend got a fidget cube so she could still do something with her hands and not smoke. Weird how much it’s helped for us. Maybe it can help for others too! Find something else that scratches that same itch to get you through. The craving stage will pass much faster and easier of you are distracted from it and that’s the only thing that’s changing. And if your friends give you crap for trying to do something good for yourself and your health, they’re not being very good friends to you. It might be time to consider hanging out with other people once you get this smoking issue pinned down.

    To stop smoking it gradually. Not cold turkey.. even two hours to smoke one cigatette. Then to drink water with lemon. It helps you. Then to stop coffee. Stop coffee ☕️ Drink lemon water 🍋 Minimise the number of 🚬 After 2 days You will stop completely..

    I am trying to quit before I get ill. I am approaching 69 years old. I never smoked a lot but I smoked for a long time. I’m on countdown now to seven cigarettes a day, but I had aha moment as I took myself back to the first time I smoked a cigarette exactly how I felt, and then traveled all way back to where I am now. Imagined how many cigarettes I’ve smoked all that time .I continue watching her videos. She’s very smart and very effective.

    Hi I am trying to quit smoking

    • @davidparker8752
      @davidparker8752 4 дні тому

      You got this. After 72 hours the nicotine addiction is gone and it’s only the mental and physical “habit” of smoking or holding the cigarette that tugs at you. I quit a year ago after 32 years of smoking and all I can say is have 3 days where you can do whatever you want to get past that 72 hours. Lots of distractions and allow yourself to do anything except smoke.

      @davidparker8752 Thank you so very much for your response, I finished the pack of cigs a few minutes ago and I trust myself for becoming a non smoker.

    That makes sense, nicotine withdrawal by itself is bad enough.. if you also avoid all your companions at the same time that you stop smoking, now your brain will be associating the withdrawal sensation with social isolation as well, making it even more unpalatable..
